Frequently Asked Questions
What types of payment are accepted?
Cash pay is currently accepted. Credentialing is pending for most major insurance companies. Clients are welcome to contact Fostering Growth to be placed on the waitlist. Clients on the waitlist will be contacted and given first priority.
What populations can you treat?
Children of all ability levels and diagnoses are welcome! While Fostering Growth was born out of the needs of foster children, Fostering Growth utilizes a child-led and trauma-informed approach with all clients. Dr. Kent has worked with a wide array of diagnoses, ranging from Autism and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder to chromosomal deletions and congenital abnormalities.
Do I have to request a specific number of sessions?
Not at all. The process begins with an evaluation before starting weekly sessions. Every 24 weeks, a re-evaluation is required to determine the progress and needs of the child. The number of sessions per week is determined based on the needs of the client and family members.
Is caregiver participation required?
While not required, caregiver participation is highly encouraged. This allows the therapist and parent to collaborate on how best to support the child. The therapist will provide evidence-based interventions and educate the caregiver on how to implement the interventions into daily life.
